View on AmazonHow the Timesheet Calculator works
- Enter your clock-in and clock-out time for the day.
- Enter any unpaid break length in minutes.
- Add an hourly rate if you want to see estimated gross pay.
- For a full week, add a row for each day worked — the totals combine automatically.
Formula / logic
Hours worked = (Clock-out time − Clock-in time) − Break minutes, converted to decimal hours for payroll (e.g. 7h 30m = 7.5).
Worked example
Clock in 9:00 AM, clock out 5:30 PM, 30-minute break: total time is 8h 30m minus 30m break = 8 hours worked.
Frequently asked questions
Is this the same as a Time Card Calculator?
They work the same way — 'timesheet' and 'time card' are two common names for the same weekly hours log.
Does the Timesheet Calculator handle overnight shifts?
Yes — if clock-out is earlier in the day than clock-in, the calculator assumes the shift ended the next day.
Is the break time paid or unpaid?
The tool assumes any break you enter is unpaid and subtracts it from the total — leave it at 0 if breaks are paid at your workplace.
Does this calculate net pay after tax?
No — it calculates gross hours and gross pay only (hours × rate). Tax withholding depends on your location and filing status.
Is the Timesheet Calculator free to use?
Yes — every calculator on this site is free, with no sign-up or download required.
